501(c)(3) is defined as “exemptions apply to corporations, and any community chest, fund or foundation, organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, testing for public safety, literary, educational purposed, to foster national or international amateur sports competition, promote the arts, or for the prevention of cruelty to children or animals.” For the purpose of 100+ Women Who Care, a local non-profit, charitable, non-religious group is acceptable. If you’re not sure that your suggested charity is a 501(c)(3), just ask them.

100+ Women Who Care, Lake County, Ohio chapter steering team has decided that we would not entertain any nominations from any of the following 501(c)(3) that fall under these descriptions: Political charities or Political advocacy charities, National Charities, unless there is a local group affiliation and the donation will only benefit Lake County, Ohio, Charities that act as a bridge between caring donors and charitable causes will NOT be considered; The purpose is for 100% of our contributions to stay in our community and be given directly to the charitable cause chosen by our members.
